Carol Krucoff, C-IAYT, E-RYT, is a yoga therapist at Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, and an award-winning health journalist. Carol served as founding editor of The Washington Post’s Health Section and her articles have appeared in numerous national publications including The New York Times, Reader’s Digest and Yoga Journal.
She is author of several books including “Yoga Sparks: 108 Easy Practices for Stress Relief in a Minute or Less” and “Healing Yoga for Neck and Shoulder Pain,” and creator of the audio home practice CD, Healing Moves Yoga. With her Duke cardiologist husband, Mitchell Krucoff, MD, she is co-author of “Healing Moves: How to Cure, Relieve and Prevent Common Ailments with Exercise,” and with Kimberly Carson, she is co-author of the DVD, “Relax into Yoga” and the book “Relax into Yoga for Seniors: A Six-week Program for Strength, Balance, Flexibility, and Pain Relief.”
A graduate of Esther Myers’ Yoga Teacher Training and Nischala Devi’s Yoga of the Heart Cardiac & Cancer Teacher Training, Carol has been practicing yoga for more than 35 years and serves on the peer review board for the International Journal of Yoga Therapy. She created and taught a yoga program for seniors enrolled in a gerontology rehabilitation program at the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center and specializes in teaching yoga to older adults and people with health challenges. Carol also spent a decade studying martial arts. As a second-degree black belt in karate and Sensei, she taught martial arts for four years.

Kimberly Carson, MPH, C-IAYT, E-RYT, is a health educator and yoga therapist specializing in the therapeutic use of yoga and meditation for seniors and people with medical challenges. Kimberly has developed and taught yoga programs being researched at Duke University Medical Center and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
The Yoga of Awareness program, developed by Kimberly and her husband Jim, has been shown in research trials to significantly reduce pain and fatigue in women with metastatic breast cancer, breast cancer survivors, as well as women with fibromyalgia. R01 funding for a large randomized controlled trial at Duke has recently been awarded to further evaluate the efficacy of this program in metastatic patients. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she teaches yoga classes as well as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation and March Wellness. Kimberly is currently a protocol consultant for a large clinical translation pragmatic trial integrating mindfulness and yoga into coping skills programs for opioid dependent chronic pain patients at Kaiser Permanente. Kimberly co-directs national yoga teacher training programs focused on health challenges specific to aging as well as cancer and chronic pain at Duke and OHSU. Kimberly has practiced yoga for over 25 years and is a graduate of yoga teacher training programs at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Integral Yoga, Yoga of the Heart as taught by Nischala Devi, and iRest. In addition to co-authoring many peer-reviewed articles, she has co-authored the DVD “Relax into Yoga” and the book “Relax into Yoga for Seniors: A Six-week Program for Strength, Balance, Flexibility, and Pain Relief.”
