The Carson-Krucoff trainings are designed to enhance yoga teachers’ sensitivity to the complexity and vulnerability of the older adult population, recognizing that a typical class of seniors is likely to represent the most diverse mix of abilities of any age group. A skillful framework for integrating the knowledge gained from Western medicine with traditional yogic teachings will be provided so teachers can be effective guardians of safety.
Upon completion, participants will have a better understanding of:
- The health conditions most common to seniors–including heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, joint replacement, pulmonary disease and chronic pain.
- Evidence-based movement precautions and considerations specific to these conditions.
- How to safely and effectively adapt yoga practices to older adults.
- The experiential application of this appoach.
